Trained as a physicist and engineer, I now enjoy tackling software engineering challenges. Happiest when working at the edge of my abilities and honing new skills, I’m currently picking up Rust, inching closer to the metal, and (still) trying to get OpenTelemetry to be my friend.
Lately, I’ve also been digging deeper into the foundations of machine learning. Having done a stint working on drug discovery, the egg-drop-experiment nature of machine learning R&D feels familiar. As a physicist, though, such an approach leaves me feeling unsettled; thus, I’m working on improving my frameworks for interrogating both the potential and limitations of these systems. Relevant topics include model evaluation, mechanistic interpretability, and AI alignment.
My career has spanned research, entrepreneurship, running brick and mortar businesses, and leading teams and technical projects at both startups and self-contained orgs embedded in large institutions. For more on that, my CV gives a high-level overview. On a personal level, I thrive on challenges and am inspired by professionally brilliant colleagues who are also wonderful humans.
Over the years, I’ve called Toronto, Ann Arbor, Paris, Vancouver, Amsterdam, and Oxford home. I love the outdoors and am privileged to now have the flexibility to spend most of my time in places with exceptionally stunning nature nearby.
I’m always happy to hear from kind folks! ♡ Socials + email on the landing page.
